What’s New in 2021?
Jeff, Cindy, and Scott tell us what we can look forward to at Echo in the new year and reveal some surprising new activities that will be coming to the 12722!
Summer 2021 is just around the corner and our campers and staff could not be more excited! Everyone is looking forward to feeling some sort of normalcy, along with spending time with our friends doing all the activities that we know and love, including Tubing, Sports, Adventure, Swimming, Theme Days, and the Olympics! In 2021, all of your favorite activities are returning, with some brand new additions making their way to the 12722.
First and foremost, Echo is building a new Creative Arts Center and a new Media Center! The Media Center will be located in the old home of Arts and Crafts, next to Dance. Also, the Base Camp Pavilion, a staple in day-to-day activities like basketball and dodgeball and major events like College Week’s Homecoming Competition, will finally be complete. There will also be a brand new Nature program coming to Echo this summer! The nature building has been completely gutted, and there will be a brand new slate of animals ready to welcome campers in June. We are so excited to see the revamped version of some of our camper’s favorite activities! In addition to new activities during the day, the Evening Activity schedule will feature brand new events that will be announced as the countdown to summer gets closer!
Our 2020 10th graders, unfortunately, missed out on what would’ve been their PIC and Haller summer due to Coronavirus. However, with the introduction of our new PIC and Haller program, no camper will have to miss out! The program combines the best parts of 10th-grade summer with many exciting opportunities that CITs (Counselors in Training), who have traditionally been 11th graders, have gotten to experience. This hybrid format will be an even more valuable and meaningful experience than what past campers and CITs have experienced and will act as a thank you to all of our oldest campers for their patience during this pandemic, all while incorporating the essential and traditional privileges that come with being a senior member of our camp community.
One of the most exciting things to look forward to as Summer 2021 gets nearer and nearer is the return of our beloved American staff, many of whom grew up going to Echo, and some new international staff members. Just because they’re a bit older than our campers doesn’t mean that they miss and love camp any less! Echo already has an almost-full roster of incredible staff who we will be introducing in the coming months on our social media.
These are just a few of many aspects of camp that make us so excited to return to our summer home. We would also like to say thank you to you, our Echo Families. Without you and your constant support, none of these amazing improvements and, more importantly, our amazing community would be possible.
